- 5th July − 25th August 2008 | Kirkcudbright Town Hall | Free
As the highlight of Kirkcudbright’s celebrations as The Artists Town in 2008 the Scottish National Portrait Gallery is delighted to be sending an exhibition of over forty major portraits from its collection.
The Face of Scotland includes some of the most famous and iconic images of Scots of all time, from Robert Burns by Alexander Nasmyth to Robbie Coltrane by John Byrne.
A recent discovery, and never before shown in public, is Raeburn’s enchanting portrait of Walter Ross, The Yellow Boy. Nearer our time are a group of sporting greats – Eric Liddell and Kenny Dalgleish among them.
