Legacy

  • 4th July − 16th September 2012

Legacy centres on two films, entitled Scots Irish / Irish Scots, by Glasgow based artist Roderick Buchanan.  Displayed simultaneously, the films follow two Glasgow bands, the Black Skull Corps of Fife and Drum and the Parkhead Republican Flute Band,  both grass root organisations living today with the legacy of the Good Friday agreement.  Filmed in Northern Ireland, produced in Scotland and supported by a series of portraits of the bandsmen involved and a book by the artist, the works explore the identities and politics of both Loyalist and Republican communities who continue to march for the cause.

This exhibition was commissioned by the Trustees of the Imperial War Museum, and supported by the Henry Moore Foundation and Year of Creative Scotland 2012.
