In 1908 the Scottish Modern Arts Association was formed with the specific goal of establishing a ‘Gallery for Modern Art' in Scotland. This display will chart the development of the idea by Stanley Cursiter in the 1930s to its eventual realisation in August 1960 when the Gallery of Modern Art opened at Inverleith House.
This display forms part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Gallery of Modern Art.
