Sir Basil Spence, arguably Scotland’s most renowned modern architect, was born a hundred years ago. This centenary exhibition – the first ever National Galleries of Scotland show devoted to architecture – celebrates his brilliant and diverse career.
The exhibition occupies the top floor of the Dean Gallery and is based on the Sir Basil Spence Archive, recently presented by the Spence family to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.
For further information on Sir Basil Spence visit the Sir Basil Spence Archive Project website.
If you are interested in the themes of social reform in Scotland, both the Joan Eardley exhibition (on until 13th January 2008) and the Back To The Future: Basil Spence exhibition are connected to our new Changing Lives eTour.
A collaboration with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.
