Seminar: Hawthornden Lecture Theatre Reception and Private View: Modern Two - Gardens Entrance (Scottish National Gallery)
A day-long seminar which will examine the career of JD Fergusson (1874-1961) on the occasion of our major retrospective exhibition The Scottish Colourist: JD Fergusson at Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art Two. The aim of the seminar is to bring together the current and wide-ranging research into Fergusson's achievements and to address his significance within modern European art history.
Speakers include Carol Nathanson (Professor of Art History, Wright State University, Ohio); Dr Jonathan Blackwood (Art Historian and Curator); Angela Smith (Emeritus Professor, English Studies, University of Stirling); Richard Emerson (Art historian and former Chief Inspector of Historic Buildings, Historic Scotland; Alice Strang (Senior Curator, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art) and Charlotte de Mille (The Courtauld Institute of Art).
