In It to Win It

  • 4th July − 7th October 2012
  • Scottish National Portrait Gallery | Admission free

Inspired by the Olympic Games, this display of new acquisitions showcases some of Scotland’s most distinguished sporting talent. The Gallery has commissioned several important new paintings which depict Scots famed for their athletic achievements. In It to Win It also includes recently acquired photographic portraits of sporting superstars.

To emphasise continuity between Scotland’s sporting past and present, the Scottish sculptor Kenny Hunter’s recent work, Young Olympians, will be installed upstairs in our nineteenth-century display, Playing for Scotland.
