How To Find Us
The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is located fifteen minutes’ walk from Princes Street and set in beautiful parkland.
Opening hours
Open daily, 10am-5pm (6pm for August only).
Closed 25 and 26 December and open on 1 January from 12 noon.
Admission is free. A charge may be made for special exhibitions.
Access
The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art has excellent facilities for disabled visitors. Modern One has wheelchair access to all parts of the Gallery. There is also a specially adapted toilet and lift (toilet not suitable for larger motorised wheelchairs). For events in the Gymnasium, parking is available in the south car park. Wheelchair access to Modern Two is from the car park at the rear entrance. Near this entrance is a specially adapted toilet and lift and all parts of the building are accessible by wheelchair.

Getting here
From the West End of Princes Street walk along Shandwick Place before turning right onto Palmerston Place. Follow Palmerston Place down onto Belford Road and across the bridge. The gallery is a short walk further along Belford Road.
By Bus
The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is serviced by Edinburgh Coach Lines Service 13.
By Train
The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is fifteen minutes’ walk from Haymarket Station. Follow Palmerston Place down onto Belford Road and across the Bridge. The gallery is a short walk further along Belford Road.
By Car
The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art has metered car parks. The fee is £1 for 4 hours and applies from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week. Visitors should not park for more than 8 hours, and overnight parking is not permitted.
Disabled parking facilities are also available.
