The jazz world became aware of the work of Miro when Dave Brubeck used his painting Reflections on the cover of Time Further Out. This album not only brought Miro’s work to a new audience, it also informed a generation of jazz lovers as to the previously unheard correlation between jazz and art. Richard Michael, visiting professor of Jazz Piano at St Andrew’s University, and violinist Joanna Duncan will examine how aural and visual techniques combine to increase appreciation of the following ‘partnerships’ – Dave Brubeck and Miro, Miles Davis and the Impressionists and Charlie Parker and Jackson Pollock. Join us for an evening of art and live music.
