Since 1850, the National Galleries of Scotland has been the proud custodian of Scotland’s national collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and photographs. The Galleries also bring the best of the world’s treasures to Scotland through vibrant and intriguing exhibitions.
Occupying some of the most important and distinctive buildings in the heart of Edinburgh, the collection is enjoyed by more than a million visitors each year. Thousands of people, young and old, have participated in our education and outreach programmes, harnessing the power of art to transform attitudes and lives.
The National Galleries of Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government and depends on the generosity of many of its many sponsors, donors and supporters to maintain its world-class exhibition and education programmes, and diverse range of special projects.
