The Scottish National Portrait Gallery is home to Scotland's national collection of portrait miniatures and comprises works which date from the mid-sixteenth century to the present day. This book illustrates a selection of work by key miniaturists and features portraits of many important Scottish historical figures such as the Earl of Bothwell, the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots, James VI and I and Robert Burns who was depicted in the last year of his life. A complete list of all the works in the collection is also included.
