Helen McCook has been working with our Education Department to introduce the art of stitch in its many forms through a series of extemely popular events.
Goldwork is all about the interplay of colour, texture and light, and it is this quality that is at the heart of Helen McCook’s work. It starts with a historical account of goldwork, then moves on to the materials and equipment required, framing up, how to transfer a design on to fabric and how to start and finish a thread.
Helen teaches at the Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace and she was part of the team that created the embellishment on the dress, veil and shoes for the wedding of Katherine Middleton and Prince William and has worked on costume embellishments for London’s West End, Broadway and German theatre productions
