Ben Nicholson

1967 (an almost green circle)

About this artwork

Nicholson’s reliefs are never strictly geometric, but instead feature curves and textured surfaces, reflecting the forms, colours and textures found in nature. Nicholson created the textured effects by scrubbing, scratching and cutting the boards, rubbing paint on and off to replicate the effects of weather and time as if they were natural objects.
