The Wild Rovers exhibition marks the partnership project organized by the National Galleries of Scotland and Perth & Kinross Council to reflect on the history of the Crieff area and welcome the launch of the new Strathearn Community Campus.

The Wild Rovers project sought to challenge the sentimental image of highland history and evoke the visceral presence of the herds of cattle that met their end at the raucous ‘tryst’ in Crieff.
At a series of workshops and events, local residents and school students created images that could mark this history and link it to the current changes in the town.
Aided by artist Gavin Lockhart and the National Galleries of Scotland Outreach Team, participants used cow masks as a device to see Crieff through the eyes of the cattle brought to the market tryst.
