After Hours
A fortnightly programme of free, live events has been organised to complement the late-night Thursday opening at the National Galleries of Scotland. These music concerts, poetry readings, talks and tours offer a more culturally comprehensive experience to visitors. Working with Live Music Now Scotland and the RSAMD in Glasgow, young musicians perform music linked to art works in the national collection or temporary exhibitions. We also collaborate with the Scottish Poetry Library. Previous events have included an evening of readings by Janice Galloway, Jackie Kay and Liz Lochhead to tie in with the Modern Women exhibition in January 2005.
Spin
Spin is an innovative members' group that gets to the heart of contemporary art. Set up by the Education Department in 2003, its members meet on the last Thursday of every month in galleries and more unusual exhibition spaces across Edinburgh to enjoy wine and informal discussions about contemporary art, accompanied by artists, critics, curators and collectors.
You can also join Spin in Glasgow. Its members meet on the third Wednesday of the month.
Membership costs £45 (£35 concessions) per year or £75 (£55 concessions) for two adults at one address. For more information visit www.spinscotland.co.uk or email spin@nationalgalleries.org
