The National Galleries of Scotland offers a range of educational activities for children. These activities are designed to encourage children to examine the art displayed in the Galleries, and to try out different approaches when looking at, thinking about and making art.

Children can progress through different parts of the education programme, from attending:

  • family events
  • children’s workshops
  • regular courses

Children accompanied by Families or Carers
Younger children can participate in stimulating activities with their families or carers. For example, on Sundays we offer Doodles and Tales and Art Cart. In October we offer special drop-in activities related to the Big Draw.

Unaccompanied Children
On Saturdays regular artist-led courses are held for children and young people unaccompanied by their families or carers. Saturday Art Club is designed for children aged 5-11 and Saturday Studio is for young people aged 11-15.
