Inspired? Get Writing! This very successful creative writing competition, now in its third year, is delighted to have received 848 entries for 2008.

Come and hear free public readings of the winning entries on Thursday 17 April at the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre at the National Gallery Complex.

The competition is a three way partnership between the National Galleries of Scotland, the English-Speaking Union Scotland and the Scottish Poetry Library. It is sponsored by SQA and EIS, and supported by the Scotsman.

A book, featuring the work of the winners and runners-up in the 2005/6 and 2006/7 competitions, has been published by the National Galleries of Scotland in association with SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority). This is available for sale in the National Galleries Shops and the Scottish Poetry Library. It can also be purchased from the Online Shop. It is hoped that a second volume featuring the work of future winners and runners up will be published in 2009.
