Kielder Forest 1980 (printed 1999)
  • Scottish Art
Murray Johnston was the first Artist in Residence in the Kielder Forest in Northumberland during 1980. His study of the forest explores the conflicts between human management and the forces of nature. The tall pine trees in this picture have been planted in shallow soil on bare rock and are easily uprooted by strong winds.
