This is a captivating and slightly unnerving portrait of the artist Peter Blake. It shows the artist backed into a corner of his home in west London with windows on either side and caught in the bright flash from the camera. Blake is renowned as a pioneer of Pop Art in Britain but he is perhaps best known for designing the sleeve of The Beatles `Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? from 1967. His work combined images from pop culture and fine art and often includes elements of collage. In 2002 Blake received a knighthood for his services to art.
