Before Alexander Ayton Junior died in 1894 he had been successful in photographing sportsmen, including tennis players and football and cricket teams. In 1892 The Practical Photographer magazine featured two prints on behalf of Alex Ayton showing both the English and Scottish rugby teams that played that year. This sporting interest was continued in the Ayton business following his death. This photograph from 1938 shows the Scottish rugby team that played against Wales on 5 February 1938.
