PC Scott Haig, Northern Constabulary
2006
- Scottish Art
This photograph was commissioned as part of a series titled `Force?, which reflects the breadth of activities that the Police service is involved with in Scotland. It shows PC Scott Haig and his family on Unst, the most northerly-inhabited island within the Shetland Isles. The island has an extremely close-knit community and as such, community involvement is the backbone of successfully policing the island. Haig described his position: ?My role on the island is to offer reassurance as well as to deal with the numerous challenges expected of the police, from investigating and reporting crime to road accidents, ?rearm enquiries and community liaison... I have no anonymity as I am based on such a small island. Whether in uniform or out I am always viewed as a police officer...?
