Euan Cox, 1893 - 1977
- Scottish Art
Euan Cox was one of the most knowledgeable and experienced horticulturalists of his day. Born in the Carse of Gowrie, between Dundee and Perth, Cox's family had made a fortune from the jute industry. This gave him the means to create a beautiful garden around the family home of Glendoick, filled with rare plants obtained on overseas expeditions. Two plants, found in Upper Burma in 1919, bear his name - Berberis Coxii and Juniperis Coxii - and Glendoick is still a renowned nursery specialising in rhododendrons and azaleas.
