Black Snowman

- Scottish Art
David Shrigley takes his camera almost everywhere with him, either to photograph 'interventions' or to produce photographs upon which he then draws. This photograph was taken in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. Shrigley used to live beside the park and considered it as an extension of his studio. The artist loves to make snowmen: to create this work, he made a black silhouette of a snowman which he then photographed on location in the park. The Modern One owns a number of Shrigley's drawings and photographs, which are characterised by a child-like sense of humour and absurdity.
