Chris Close (Scottish, born 1967)
Scottish photographer Chris Close was born and brought up in St Andrews. He studied at Westminster University, 1985 to 1988, followed by a postgraduate course at Strathclyde University, 1988 to 1990. Since then he has been self-employed as a photographer and is currently based in Edinburgh and London. He works mainly for clients in advertising and design, and specialises in portrait and landscape photography. He has had a passion for capturing the Scottish landscape ever since he started taking pictures: "Living with the most visually stunning scenery on my doorstep it seemed to make sense. I didn't really think about it, I just went out and did it". Close also chaired the Association of Photographers, Scotland, for around five years.
