National Galleries of Scotland

Portrait of the Month offers the opportunity to explore the breadth and wealth of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery collection during the Gallery’s two and half year closure.  It will focus on one portrait for each month until the refurbished Portrait Gallery reopens in 2011.

The featured portraits and have been specially chosen by a variety of Portrait Gallery staff including curators, educators and gallery attendants, as well as public figures, to reflect the Portrait of the Nation project.  Each person will explain his or her own responses to the works of art and their reasons for choosing them.
