Several noted Scots select their favourite works from the National Gallery of Scotland's collection.
One hundred and fifty years have passed since the National Gallery of Scotland first opened in 1859. Throughout the subsequent century and a half, the gallery has seen many changes and made many world-class acquisitions. It is one of the nation’s most visited attractions and continues to play a pivotal role in the cultural history of Scotland.
In celebration of the National Gallery of Scotland’s 150th anniversary, a number of notable Scots from the worlds of culture, politics, sport and entertainment have selected their favourite artworks from the collection. Here, they explain what attracted them to a particular work.
