Summer Arts in the Parks 1980
  • Artist Rooms
Summer Arts in the Parks’ was an initiative launched in 1967, when New York City’s parks commissioner oversaw a project to bring temporary art installations to the city’s green spaces. Over the years, many artists have taken part in a bid to allow a greater access to public art. This poster advertising the 1980 programme, features one of Warhol’s flower paintings, which he first made in the mid 1960s. The artwork, however, demonstrates characteristics of his work from the late seventies - such as the inclusion of a contrasting linear drawing alongside the bold blocks of printed colour.
