The Campbells of Glenorchy were important Highland landowners whose principal residence was at Balloch (now Taymouth Castle), near Loch Tay. Known to his followers by the sinister nickname, 'Black Duncan of the Cowl', Campbell was an enthusiastic planter and improver of his estates.
