[Unidentified man and woman] (Formerly called Frederick, King of Bohemia with Elizabeth, Queen of Bohemia) c 1620
This watercolour was originally thought to show Frederick, King of Bohemia with his wife, Elizabeth. Painted in about 1620 it was previously believed to show the couple fleeing to the Netherlands following Frederick’s defeat at the battle of the White Mountain on 8 November 1620. However, it has since been decided that it does not show Frederick and Elizabeth.
