Sammlung von Mobel-Entwürfe
Published 1862
This work comes from a sequence of prints published in 1862 by Ernst and Korn of Berlin. Which provide a fascinating selection of Schinkel's furniture designs. They confirm his interest in raising the standard of design in mass-produced items and also his promotion of contemporary materials. In addition to wood and various types of stone, his designs called for iron, tin, zinc and stucco. His individual interpretation of classical motifs and his emphasis on purity of form was consistent with the ideas of British Greek Revivalist architects such as Alexander 'Greek' Thomson.
