William Wallace Scott (British, 1819 - 1905)
William Wallace Scott was a painter of miniature portraits and landscapes, who frequently used watercolours to create minute detail in his paintings. Born in the UK in 1819, Scott?s talent was recognised at an early age. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in London at the age of twenty-two, and continued to show work there for the next fifteen years. In the 1860s Scott travelled to the United States. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design in New York from 1866 until 1878 and at the Brooklyn Art Association from 1868 until 1877. Scott died in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1905.
