Seated Figure (Cross-Legged) 1962

On Display Modern One

In the 1960s Meadows began moving away from his sculptures of animals to those of human forms. This work relates to his Armed Figures and Pointed Figures which he was working on at the same time. It also alludes to his earlier sculptures of birds with the large solid form resembling protective wings enveloping the figure.
