Words (Askit)
2008
- Scottish Art
This work is part of a series of rectangular aluminium plates which are exhibited at right angles to the wall, jutting into the display space. Each panel has been screen-printed several times, building up a layered effect. Here, contrasting to the predominantly black expanse, an orange and yellow marbled surface forms the word `Askit? over which `Words? has been printed. The viewer is left to try and interpret the layered image. In utilising the word `Askit?, Myles is referring to the common brand of painkillers.
