Bacchiacca (Francesco Ubertini) (Italian (Florentine), 1494 - 1557)
Bacchiacca specialised in small-scale paintings and decorative designs mainly for domestic settings. In these detailed and colourful works he combined a rich variety of figures and animals, often derived from other artists' paintings and prints. He was born in Florence and trained in Perugino's studio. He absorbed all he could from Perugino and was also influenced by Andrea del Sarto's work. The charm of Bacchiacca's paintings lies above all in their unusual colour combinations
