Barbara Balmer (Scottish, born 1929)
Barbara Balmer was born in Birmingham and trained at Coventry and Edinburgh Colleges of Art. She now lives and works in Stamford, Lincolnshire but has had many links with Scotland throughout her distinguished painting career. Balmer is best known for her stylised and beautifully composed Tuscan landscapes and interiors which she has regularly exhibited. Over a forty-year span, Balmer has also painted many commissioned portraits, mostly of children.
