Music had a prominent role in both Warhol?s professional and personal life. From designing the infamous cover for The Rolling Stones `Sticky Fingers? album, to being a regular at the legendary New York nightclub Studio 54, Warhol mixed with the stars of the music industry. This poster features the portrait of Ryuichi Sakamoto, an experimental musician who achieved success in many aspects of the music industry, including orchestral compositions, pop music and film soundtracks. Warhol?s portrait of the Japanese star combines a flat background colour with a photographic screenprint. Yet, typical of his work from the 1980s, he has also incorporated printed con tours which pick out aspects of detail.
