Shelagh Atkinson (Scottish, born 1959)
Scottish artist Shelagh Atkinson was born in West Lothian and studied Communication Studies at Napier University in Edinburgh. In the early 1990s she attended Professor Keith Howard?s Innovative Printmaking workshop at the Edinburgh Printmakers and in 2004/5 took a course in life drawing at Leith School of Art. In 1996 Atkinson started her own workshop in Edinburgh, producing figurative paintings, silkscreen prints and photo etchings. She finds inspiration in architecture and the urban environment, humour, landscape and imagination. She has participated in exhibitions in Scotland, London and abroad, including Germany, Sweden, Bulgaria, Japan and the USA. Atkinson is a member of Edinburgh Printmakers and lives in Dolphinton, Peeblesshire.
