Oscar Marzaroli (Italian / Scottish, 1933 - 1988)
The son of Italian immigrants, Oscar Marzaroli lived in Scotland from the age of two and considered himself in every respect a Glaswegian. In 1959 after a period of travelling in Europe he opened a small photographic studio in the city. However, he quickly found it easier to make a living as a filmmaker, eventually establishing his own company, Ogham films, in 1967. Marzaroli is best known for his photographs of Glasgow and of artists in Scotland. He achieved full public recognition with two exhibitions held in close succession at the Third Eye Centre in Glasgow in the mid-1980s.
