Quentin Blake picks 26 paintings by artists whose names start with each letter of the alphabet and encourages the reader to make their own interpretation of the story being told. Quentin introduces each of the paintings using his illustrated characters who ask questions about the paintings challenging the reader’s imagination to tell the rest of the story. The paintings featured are all very different and include work from artists living and dead from the last 500 years. Some works are British but many are by international artists. Each painting is shown in full colour and the book ends with the history and story behind the paintings.
