National Collections Gaelic Language Initiative
National Museums Scotland, National Galleries of Scotland and the National Library of Scotland have been awarded a grant of £19,000 from the Gaelic Language Act Implementation Fund (GLAIF).
The main purpose of GLAIF is to support initiatives which develop the capacity of relevant public authorities to deliver existing or potential Gaelic Language Plans, and support the aims of the National Gaelic Language Plan 2012-17.
The fund is administered by the Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
This award is funding a joint project between the national organisations which will deliver a programme of workshops and other Gaelic-themed learning sessions in order to raise staff awareness of Gaelic culture and to develop some language capabilities within the respective teams.
The project runs from 1 July 2013 to 31 August 2014 and provides an opportunity for NMS, NGS and NLS to collaborate to deliver on a theme that is common across all of their Gaelic Language Plans.
